Liverpool Provides Injury Updates on Three Key Players

Liverpool Assistant Manager Provides Updates on Trio Ahead of Carabao Cup Clash

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Carabao Cup quarter-final, assistant manager Pep Lijnders shared positive updates on Ryan Gravenberch, progress reports on Alexis Mac Allister, and Diogo Jota.

Regarding Gravenberch, Lijnders expressed relief, stating, "He played in the last game, and you could see immediately when he came on, it influenced the whole team; he played really well. Especially against physically strong opponents, he played unbelievably. However, he has a slight fitness issue. It's nothing major, just temporary fatigue. Hopefully, he will train and be available for the Carabao Cup quarter-final. We have to be cautious because he shows signs of an injury. But at least, returning to training is positive news."

Regarding Mac Allister, he said, "Alexis is progressing well; he's no longer in pain, which is a good thing. It was worse than we initially thought, but Allister is making good progress, no more pain. Let's see if he can return quickly."

Finally, about Jota, Klopp's defender mentioned, "With wrist ligament injuries, you have to be careful; we always say when they come back, give them an extra 2 or 3 days to feel optimistic."

The busy festive period in the Premier League, affected by two major cup matches, requires Jurgen Klopp to deploy all the manpower he can muster to compete on multiple fronts. Meanwhile, in less positive news, Lijnders announced that talented young player Ben Doak will undergo knee surgery due to an injury.

Liverpool faces West Ham at Anfield in the Carabao Cup quarter-final later this week. "The Kop" aims to clinch the EFL title, a cup they won two years ago.
